DO YOU WANT TO LOOK THINNER? OR DO YOU WANT EVERY 'UNFLATTERING' BULGE TO SHOW?

If you want to look your best, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, wear clothes that are too small, too tight, too short or cut too low! You might think you look 'HOT' in these outfits but they may show too much of the wrong thing!

We can always tell how many seniors didn't take the time to read the clothing brochure we sent. Don't you want to look back at your senior portraits and see how awesome you looked rather than wondering...What was I thinking?

IF YOU WANT TO LOOK YOUR BEST, THEN YOU NEED TO READ THIS!

I want your portraits to turn out great for you and I know your parents want the same. PLEASE take this seriously and plan ahead! Here are some IMPORTANT tips that you need to pay attention to...

CLOTHING
• DO NOT WEAR plaids, horizontal stripes or busy patterns. This takes attention AWAY from your face and redirects it toward your clothing.
• Stay away from super bright or neon colors! Medium to darker colors always look better. Buy white for the white on white look is nice too.
• Make sure your clothes fit YOU and were not made for someone smaller than you! If there's a bulge pushing out from your shirt or your pants, this outfit is NOT good for you and your portraits. Choose something looser and more flattering for your body! Don't look at size! Buy what fits you well!
• Short sleeve shirts are OK for portraits but LONG SLEEVES LOOK BETTER! Sleeveless shirts add weight to your body and can take attention away from your face. You want your face to be the focal point not your arms or shoulders.
• If you want to wear shirts with logos or pictures, then just bring in one. DO NOT have every outfit represent your idols. Graphics on shirts always take the focus away from your face!
• Make sure your clothes are IRONED and not full of dog or cat hair.
• If your session allows poses with your friends, plan your outfits to coordinate with each other. Again, stick with solids and long sleeves.

UNDERWEAR
• Pay attention to the way your clothes look over your underwear. I see time and time again where girls wear lacy bras under tight shirts which make their shirts bumpy which looks terrible in pictures!
DO NOT wear colored underwear under light clothes...IT SHOWS! And if you're wearing white, DO NOT wear white underwear...wear flesh color, otherwise it's going to show through!
DO NOT wear underwear that is too tight causing bumps and bulges to pop out where you don't want them!

HAIR
• If you need a hair cut, get it done at least two weeks before your session. This will give it time to grow a bit and look more natural.
• DO NOT color your hair right before your session or try a radical new hair style. Chances are - you and/or your parents won't like it.
• If your hair is colored or highlighted, make sure it is touched up before your portraits. You don't want the roots to show!
• Plan to use some light hair gel or spray to keep your stray hair in place. You may not see them in the dressing room but against the studio backgrounds, they will definitely show up!

WHAT ABOUT MAKE UP?
• DO NOT wear glitter or super shiny lip gloss! We don't want you to look like you have dust all over your face and that you don't have lips. Shiny lip gloss reflects light leaving a huge white area on your lip Definitely not flattering.
• Plan to wear a natural skin foundation WITH natural powder to tone down your facial shine...even if you don't wear make up. This will give you healthier looking skin for your portraits.
• DO NOT forget about your nails...AND your toe nails. If your polish is all chipped up and I do those awesome close ups with your hands by your face, I can guarantee you you're NOT going to like the pose. If your session includes full lengths, some poses might look better barefoot so check those toenails.

GLASSES?
• If you will be wearing glasses, we suggest that you have the lenses removed or borrow frames from your optometrist without lenses to prevent glass glare. Glass glare can be removed in your pictures BUT it costs money.
• If your glasses are wider than your face, there will be facial distortion that cannot be fixed!

DON'T GET TOO TAN!
• Too much sun deadens your natural facial highlights. As for sunburns...well let's just say you don't want to look like Rudolf for your senior portraits. If you have tan lines, be sure your outfits cover them up. We can fix some of it but I don't think your parents want to spend the money!

ONE LAST NOTE...
• If you are doing an outdoor session and want to be photographed with your car, have it washed, waxed and tires cleaned beforehand.
